WOMXN and SISTXRHOOD
You may be wondering… why do we use the “X” in “WOMXN” and "SISTXRHOOD"? Are we against men? Are we feminists? What, exactly, does it mean? Well, here ya go...
The “X” in WOMXN and SISTXRHOOD is an indicator of intersectional inclusivity.
What is intersectional inclusivity, you ask?
First, a definition: “Intersectionality is an analytic framework which attempts to identify how interlocking systems of power impact those who are most marginalized in society.”
Intersectional inclusivity means that the movement is aware of and working in a united way to support the needs and demands across gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religious and cultural lines. An intersectional movement supports and understands issues facing LGBTA+, WOC, POC, Non-gender binary folks, Black Communities, Indigenous communities, Immigrant communities, low-income and other marginalized groups as well as white feminists to create a truly inclusive culture. Not too mention, a truly inclusive womxn’s movement also includes the dismantling of harmful systems that effect Men.
We are all in this mess on this colonized planet together, and the only way out of it is to listen to each other and respond appropriately as we co-create the world the wish for our children's, children to live in.
